Chinese market and international positioning

In China your website could be invisible. We build the presence you need.

Being online doesn't mean being reachable. We design positioning in the Chinese market for B2B companies: infrastructure, website, local platforms, Chinese-language content, business development and partners on the ground. And we work in the opposite direction too, helping Chinese companies enter Italy, the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The first conversation is free. Copy-paste from Google Translate, fortunately, isn't.

The problem

China isn't just another export market. It's almost another internet.

Many Western services are unavailable, don't work reliably or simply aren't the channels Chinese buyers use. Search engines change, so do platforms, digital habits, trust systems and the way suppliers and products get assessed.

The problem isn't only translating what you already have: it's building an environment that works inside a different ecosystem.

To be chosen, you first have to be found. Then understood. And finally considered credible.

A European site can be online and at the same time
load slowly from China
not be indexed by local engines
rely on external services that aren't accessible
present content the buyer can barely follow
lack the trust signals the market expects
collect or transfer data with an unsuitable architecture
First assessment

Before the website, one question: would anyone actually buy your product?

Before opening any account we analyse
demand and potential applications
sectors and buyer types
local and international competitors
positioning and price range
entry channels
technical or certification requirements
the need for distributors and partners
the company's capacity to follow the market

We don't start by opening accounts on the most famous platforms. Entering the Chinese market takes time, resources and continuity: that's why the first answer can also be “not yet” or “not this way”.

Better to find out during an assessment than after building a very beautiful and completely lonely.

Let's assess your China project
The service

What we build to enter the Chinese market

Nine blocks of work. They combine according to product, sector and the level of control you want to keep.

01

Entry strategy

We define objectives, buyers, territory, channels and mode of presence. We assess whether to work directly, through distributors, with local partners or with a mixed model.

The answer depends on the product, the sector and how much control the company wants to keep.

02

Accessible and verified web presence

We analyse the existing site and choose the most suitable architecture: hosting in mainland China, infrastructure in nearby regions or optimised international solutions. When the site is hosted in China we handle the required procedures with our partners, including ICP registration.

The result is verified from inside China, because “it opens fine here” isn't a particularly useful test.

03

Visibility on Chinese search engines

We optimise structure, technology and content for Baidu and for the engines relevant to the project: indexing, page architecture, terminology, technical content and authority signals.

We don't translate Western SEO. We rebuild visibility around the searches of the local audience.

04

Local platforms and channels

We select platforms based on the buyer journey, not on their popularity. WeChat, B2B marketplaces, vertical portals, professional directories and industry channels can play different roles.

We only activate what the team can actually maintain and use.

05

Naming and identity in Chinese

A name can be transcribed phonetically, translated by meaning or rethought to combine sound and positioning. The choice must also be checked against trademark availability and protection, with qualified professionals.

The name comes before the campaign. Fixing it afterwards is decidedly less fun.

06

Content written for the market

We produce texts, datasheets, presentations, landing pages and sales material in Simplified Chinese, adapting priorities, examples, arguments and terminology to the audience and the sector.

Where needed we involve native speakers and local partners to check that the content isn't only correct, but natural and credible.

07

Design and trust signals

We adapt hierarchies, information density, navigation, visual elements and proof of reliability.

There is no single “Chinese design”. An industrial buyer, a distributor and a consumer have different expectations: we build on the real audience, not on stereotypes.

08

Accounts, data and ownership

Before opening domains, accounts and platforms we define registrants, access, where data is stored, credential management, which information may cross borders and how to recover it.

The solution must stay governable by the client, even if one day they change partner.

09

Compliance

Hosting, data, content, commercial activity and platforms can carry different requirements. We analyse the architecture with technical partners and involve local professionals for legal, administrative and regulatory matters.

Responsibilities are defined in the project, without turning marketing into improvised legal advice.

BOS and business development

Being visible is useful. Receiving an enquiry is a little more so.

A digital presence doesn't sell on its own. With BOS we adapt our business development system to the Chinese context, working alongside our network of partners on the ground.

We don't hand over a generic list of companies: we build sales activity around product, market and objectives. The level of involvement is defined together, from opportunity generation through to commercial coverage via partners and agents.

With BOS we can
identify compatible companies, distributors and partners
identify the people involved in decisions
choose the most suitable contact channels
prepare local messages and material
start and qualify conversations
arrange meetings
follow up distributors and opportunities
support negotiations and sales, where the agreement provides for it
The method

From the first test to an active presence

1 We validate the market

We analyse demand, competition, buyers, channels, requirements and project sustainability.

2 We design the ecosystem

We define infrastructure, website, search engines, platforms, content, data and partners.

3 We build

We build the digital presence, configure the accounts and prepare technical and sales material.

4 We launch and test from China

We check accessibility, speed, indexing, tracking and that the services used actually work.

5 We activate the market

We start visibility, contacts and commercial relationships through BOS, local partners and selected channels.

6 We measure and correct

We analyse data and results. We reinforce what works and correct what the market, with great tactlessness, has decided to ignore.

Measurement

How we tell whether you really exist

We define technical, digital and commercial indicators. We can measure:

Accessibility and speed from ChinaCorrectly indexed pagesVisibility on relevant searchesQualified trafficInteractions on the platformsEnquiries receivedCompanies and decision makers reachedQualified contactsInterested distributors or partnersMeetings and opportunitiesProgress of negotiations

Followers and views can be useful. But we don't confuse them with customers.

Local partners

China isn't managed from a video call.

We work with technical, linguistic and commercial partners based in the country. They help us read practices, timings, relationships and changes that would be hard to see from far away.

When legal, administrative or certification expertise is needed, we involve specialised professionals.

We coordinate project, technology and positioning. Each partner is accountable for its own area.

China → Italy, EU, United Kingdom and United States

The bridge works the other way too.

We help Chinese B2B, industrial and technology companies build a credible presence in Western markets. A competitive product isn't enough if the website doesn't convey trust, the message reads as translated or the company has no local commercial presence.

Italy, the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States are not one market with four different flags.

Market analysis and selection

We compare countries, sectors, buyers, competitors and entry routes. We set a priority instead of opening four fronts at once.

Western positioning

We adapt value proposition, name, messages, proof and sales arguments. The aim isn't to hide the Chinese origin: it's to communicate quality, technology and manufacturing capability in an understandable way.

Websites, Google and professional presence

We build sites and landing pages localised for Italy, the EU, the UK and the USA. We work on Google, SEO, LinkedIn, professional directories and industry B2B platforms.

Content and sales material

Company profile, presentations, catalogues, product sheets and content in Italian, English and any other required language, adapted to Western buyers' expectations.

Compliance and market access

With specialised partners we check product requirements, labelling, documentation, privacy, contracts and the responsibilities of local operators. The EU, the UK and the USA require separate assessments.

Distributors, agents and BOS

We look for distributors, partners, importers and decision makers. With BOS we generate opportunities or set up fuller coverage with our network of agents, following contacts, relationships, negotiations and sales within the limits of the mandate.

What we don't do

No off-the-shelf “China” package.

Translating the website and hoping it's enough
Opening every available platform to inflate the quote
Registering domains and accounts to parties other than the client without clear agreements
Promising automatic sales because the market is big
Treating China, Europe, the UK and the USA as the same ecosystem
Giving legal or certification opinions instead of licensed professionals

We build a project proportionate to the market, the resources and the objectives.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need a company registered in China?

It depends on the activity, the channel, the sector and the chosen architecture. Some configurations require a local entity or partner, others can be handled without a Chinese company. We check this at the start of the project.

Is hosting the site in mainland China mandatory?

No. We assess local hosting, nearby regions and international infrastructure based on performance, requirements, data and budget. If the site is hosted in mainland China, ICP registration is required.

Can we adapt our current website?

Sometimes yes. First we analyse technology, external services, structure, content and performance from China. If the work needed becomes more complex than the site itself, we propose a dedicated presence.

Which platforms do we have to use?

It depends on the sector and the buyer. Baidu, WeChat, marketplaces, vertical portals and directories can play different roles. We choose the channels after analysing the purchase journey.

How long does it take?

An initial assessment can be completed in a few weeks. A full project of infrastructure, content, accounts and commercial activation normally takes some months. Procedures and approvals can change the timings.

Do we need a Chinese name?

Not always, but it's worth considering. The name can improve recognisability, pronunciation and recall. Before using it, the possibility of protecting it should also be checked.

Does it work for niche industrial products too?

It can, but the niche alone isn't an advantage. We check demand, buyers, competitors, requirements and commercial sustainability before investing.

Does BOS work in China too?

Yes, adapting sources, channels, messages and contact methods to the Chinese market. We work with local partners and define the level of commercial coverage needed.

Do you also help Chinese companies enter Europe and the United States?

Yes. We work on positioning, digital presence, content, partner search and business development in Italy, the EU, the UK and the USA.

Do you also handle legal and certification matters?

We coordinate them through specialised partners and professionals. Restricted assessments and activities are carried out by parties qualified for the country and the sector.

Who owns accounts, domains and content?

Ownership, access, licences and transferability are defined in the contract. The aim is to keep domains, data, content and accounts under the company's control.
